This is a 100% remote role but occasional travel to our HQ in Alexandria, VA may be needed.

Key Responsibilities and Managed Outcomes:

  • Provide technical assistance through management and tracking of the Nutrition inquiries, responding to various inquiries, and disseminating inquiries for response as appropriate.
  • Respond to technical assistance inquiries.
  • Create, review and update resources and services for publications, web-based tools, and/or training materials:
    • Review, edit, write, and complete tasks to finalize and receive clearance approval for publications, training materials, web-based content, and resources for the target audience. Materials and tools will be reviewed for technical accuracy before release to the public via website, or in print publications.
  • Create and finalize web-based announcements, power point presentations, memorandums, and other promotional resources related to technical assistance resources. This task shall include updating and developing new technical assistance resources to support policy updates.
  • Conduct quality assurance analysis and evaluations of food yield data for Food Yield Study.
    • Review food yields data, assist in approving data, and recommend incorporation of approved food yields.
  • Evaluate incoming training for inclusion in Professional Standards Training Database.
    • Add approved training to the Professional Standards Training Database and the Professional Standards Training Tracker Tool.
  • Administer webinars (create registrations, host, upload slides, provide technical assistance, verify, and maintain records of attendance, correspond with webinar attendees regarding participation certificates)
    • Complete all hosting duties during the live webinar
    • Review webinar recording and finalize webinar recording transcript.
  • Develop nutrition education and training materials pertaining to Nutrition Programs.
  • Develop electronic newsletters and promotions.
  • Provide technical support by conducting User Acceptance Testing of digital and web-based technical assistance resources.

Required Skills:

  • A minimum of 3 years working with FNS’ Child Nutrition Programs is required (in particular, National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, and the Child and Adult Care Food Program) with understanding of stakeholders’ perspective.

Desired Skills:

  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, and Excel)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with nutrition communications, to include writing for audiences with varying literacy skills, and understanding of 508 compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of attention to detail, organization skills and customer service (i.e. working with internal and external stakeholders to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve issues).
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or graduate/higher level degree in the fields of dietetics, food, nutrition, food service management, public health, health education, or a related field.
  • Professional certification as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).
